The position is responsible for generating Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts across various sectors including Civil Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power, Renewables, Heavy Industries, and Buildings, covering both US and Canadian markets.

Job Overview:

• Generate profitable new business opportunities in Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts within the North America region, focusing on both single project and annual basis forms across key sectors.

• Enhance the development and quality of the portfolio in alignment with the underwriting policy and strategic direction set by the Global Line of Business.

• Collaborate on commercial initiatives for the Region, working in conjunction with other Lines of Business.

• Provide specialized support to the Global Construction teams through specific technical expertise and language skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the North America Construction Manager:
Main Duties:

• Underwrite and cultivate a profitable portfolio in line with Specialty Insurance underwriting guidelines.

• Conduct technical underwriting to evaluate risks, determining insurability and applying suitable terms and conditions.

• Identify potential new business targets to develop a profitable Specialty Insurance profile.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and intermediaries (brokers, risk managers, ceding companies).

• Regularly visit clients, brokers, and project sites, with travel requirements around 20%.

• Promote SCOR’s offerings through effective communication and marketing initiatives (seminars, forums, materials, etc.).

• Collaborate closely with colleagues in the SCOR network, ensuring alignment of business objectives to optimize responses to producers and the division.

• Analyze the construction portfolio with a focus on profitability.

• Manage data accurately within our information systems to reflect the risks underwritten and facilitate portfolio analysis.

• Oversee the administration of the OMEGA back-office tool in collaboration with Technical Assistants for new or existing accounts.

• Engage with the claims team to inform and enhance the underwriting process.
Contract Management:

• Maintain accurate data in front-end underwriting tools.

• Ensure effective management of contracts (endorsements, renewals, claims, etc.) and maintain data accuracy within the IT system.

• Uphold profitability and sustainability as core decision-making drivers.
Client Management:

• Foster a solution-oriented, customer-centric approach, leveraging cross-selling opportunities with other lines of business or treaty for facultative services.
Global Construction Team:

• Participate in broader Global construction initiatives and projects.

Required Experience & Competencies:
The ideal candidate will be a senior underwriter with 5 to 10 years of experience in the insurance market, possessing exposure to various international construction risks. Experience in the construction industry is also advantageous.

Required Education:
A degree in Engineering and/or recognized qualifications in business, mathematics, or insurance.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $210,000 - $250,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
