This role is pivotal in fostering the profitable expansion of the North America Builder's Risk Direct Insurance division as a Senior Construction Underwriter. The position involves the creation of Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts tailored for individual projects or annual agreements across various sectors including Civil Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power, Renewables, Heavy Industries, and Buildings within both US and Canadian markets.

Job Responsibilities:

• Generate profitable new business opportunities in the North America region, focusing on Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts for both single projects and annual agreements across diverse sectors.

• Enhance the development and quality of the insurance portfolio in alignment with the underwriting policies and strategic direction set by the Global Line of Business.

• Engage in commercial activities for the region, collaborating with other Lines of Business.

• Provide additional value to the Global Construction teams through specialized technical and/or language expertise.

Key Duties:
Under the guidance of the North America Construction Manager:
Main Activities:

• Underwrite, develop, and sustain a profitable portfolio in accordance with Specialty Insurance underwriting standards.

• Conduct technical underwriting to evaluate risks, determining their insurability and establishing suitable terms and conditions.

• Identify new business prospects to cultivate a profitable Specialty Insurance profile.

• Establish and nurture relationships with clients and their intermediaries, including brokers and risk managers.

• Conduct regular visits to clients, brokers, and project sites (approximately 20% travel).

• Promote SCOR's offerings to clients utilizing communication and marketing resources (seminars, forums, materials, etc.).

• Collaborate closely with colleagues within the SCOR network, ensuring effective sharing of business objectives to deliver optimal responses to producers and the division.

• Analyze the construction portfolio with a focus on profitability.

• Accurately manage data within our information systems to reflect the risks underwritten and facilitate portfolio analysis.

• Oversee the administration of the OMEGA back-office tool in coordination with Technical Assistants for new or existing accounts.

• Regularly liaise with the claims team to inform the underwriting process.

Contract Management:

• Maintain accurate data in the front-end underwriting tools.

• Ensure effective management of contracts (endorsements, renewals, claims, etc.) and uphold the accuracy of data entered into the IT system.

• Prioritize profitability and sustainability in decision-making processes.
Client Management:

• Embrace a solution-oriented, customer-centric approach, enhancing cross-selling opportunities with other lines of business or treaty for facultative services.
Global Construction Team:

• Participate in broader Global construction initiatives and projects.

Required Experience & Competencies:
We seek a senior underwriter with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the insurance sector, particularly with exposure to various international construction risks. Previous experience in the construction industry is also advantageous.

• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Required Education:
A degree in Engineering and/or recognized qualifications in business, mathematics, or insurance.

In compliance with local law, we disclose the compensation range for roles performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including location, experience, role, and performance. The listed range is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $210,000 - $250,000 salary per year. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, along with a variety of employee benefits such as health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, and paid time off.
