Position: Senior Vice President of Mortgage Operations

As a vital member of the executive leadership team, the Senior Vice President of Mortgage Operations will oversee all facets of the mortgage sector. This position is pivotal in shaping and executing strategies for innovative concepts while collaborating with various departments. The role includes planning and managing the Mortgage division, ensuring effective governance of substantial risks and opportunities within the credit union.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Loan Production Management: Lead the mortgage production and quality by establishing performance metrics, training staff, coordinating marketing initiatives, and creating new mortgage products.
  2. Department Oversight: Supervise the Mortgage Loan Department, including hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating staff performance. Allocate resources to meet departmental operational needs and review recommendations from team members.
  3. Loan Processing: Engage in the underwriting, approval, and closing of loans.
  4. Product Evaluation: Assess existing products and procedures, implementing necessary changes to enhance efficiency.
  5. Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the Marketing team to design and execute mortgage loan promotions.
  6. Interdepartmental Coordination: Work with other departments to align data processing, accounting, and operational needs.
  7. Training Development: Organize mortgage loan training sessions for credit union staff.
  8. Vendor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with vendors, builders, realtors, and secondary market buyers.
  9. Additional Duties: Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Performance Metrics:

  1. Guide the Mortgage department in originating, processing, underwriting, funding, and servicing high-quality mortgage loans.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to grow the loan portfolio in alignment with credit union objectives.
  3. Monitor operational activities and key metrics to ensure compliance with quality standards and risk parameters.
  4. Stay informed on market trends and proactively adjust products and services to meet member needs.
  5. Foster a knowledgeable staff capable of meeting daily lending demands.
  6. Ensure compliance with all mortgage lending policies and regulations.
  7. Achieve departmental goals and ensure team members meet their individual objectives.

Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of 6 years in real estate lending, including mortgage loan pricing, origination, processing, and servicing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.

Interpersonal Skills: This role requires extensive personal interaction and the ability to motivate and influence others. Building strong relationships with external entities is essential.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in mortgage lending software is required. Eligibility for registration with NMLS is also necessary.
