POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice plays a crucial role in assisting with the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and upkeep of piping systems, fixtures, and industrial processing systems. The ideal candidate will possess a willingness to learn and a strong mechanical aptitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and learn under the guidance of experienced Sprinkler Technicians in the following areas:
  1. Installation of piping systems and valves
  2. Cutting, threading, assembling, and bonding pipes and tubes according to established specifications
  3. Modification, cleaning, and maintenance of piping systems, units, and fittings
  4. Removal and replacement of worn components
Develop skills to interpret blueprints to ensure compliance with product specifications.Learn to accurately calculate material measurements to confirm specifications.Understand and apply proper installation techniques.Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully; however, an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may also be considered.

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be eligible to enroll and obtain a current Fire Sprinkler License.

Experience and Skills:

  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while following the direction of Sprinkler Technicians.
  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, customer service skills, decision-making capabilities, multitasking ability, and organizational skills are essential.

Communication Skills:

  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills in English are required for interaction with colleagues and clients.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read electronic blueprints is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
  • Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements is mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, climb ladders, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, and stand or walk for extended periods. The employee must have the ability to see in color and at various distances, as well as adjust focus. Occasionally, the employee may need to balance, crouch, drive, lift up to 75 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.

Work Environment:

This role involves frequent local travel and occasional regional travel. Employees will often work in varying temperatures and may be exposed to loud noises, cramped spaces, dust, fumes, and electrical hazards. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by company safety policies.
