Position Overview
This role involves serving as a fire protection, mechanical, and plumbing designer for new constructions and renovations. The position requires delivering comprehensive design products for fire protection systems, including wet and dry pipe systems, as well as mechanical design for HVAC and plumbing systems, encompassing load calculations and equipment layouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver complete, executable design products related to fire, mechanical, and plumbing needs.
- Field-verify existing site conditions to gather information regarding engineering design challenges.
- Provide specifications and cost estimates for materials and labor, ensuring compliance with applicable codes for various construction projects.
- Coordinate with Technical Managers to ensure project completion, integration, and adherence to work order requirements.
- Review technical criteria to ensure project performance aligns with intended outcomes.
- Initiate and coordinate solutions for significant technical and engineering challenges.
- Produce design documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates necessary for successful project completion.
- Ensure design products comply with safety regulations and building codes.
- Act as the contract lead and primary point of contact for clients and IBEX contract staff.
- Prepare for and participate in client and corporate meetings to provide updates on project status, progress, and challenges.
- Train and support IBEX contract staff to meet performance requirements.
- Provide contract support status and reporting information to IBEX Corporate PM and staff.
- Complete necessary ongoing training as required.
- Travel as needed between project sites.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and may involve outdoor work and visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects, reaching, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
