POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the design, fabrication, assembly, installation, and upkeep of piping systems, fixtures, and industrial processing systems. The ideal candidate should possess a willingness to learn and a mechanical aptitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and learn from experienced Sprinkler Technicians in the following tasks:
    1. Install piping systems and valves
    2. Cut, thread, assemble, and bond pipes and tubes according to specifications
    3. Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems and fittings
    4. Replace worn components as necessary
  • Develop skills to interpret blueprints and meet product specifications.
  • Learn to calculate material measurements for accuracy.
  • Understand proper installation methods.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications outlined below are essential for successful job performance; however, an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may also be acceptable.

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be eligible to enroll and obtain a current Fire Sprinkler License.

Experience and Skills:

  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision under the guidance of Sprinkler Technicians.
  • Basic mathematical skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, decision-making skills, multitasking capability, and organizational skills are required.

Communication Skills:

  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills in English are essential for interaction with colleagues and clients.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read electronic blueprints is highly preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements is mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, climb ladders, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, and stand or walk for extended periods. Vision requirements include the ability to see in color and at various distances.

Work Environment:

This role requires frequent local travel and occasional regional travel. Employees will work both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and may be exposed to loud noises, dust, fumes, and electrical hazards. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn as per safety policies.
