POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice will support the installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems and related components. The ideal candidate should possess a willingness to learn and a strong mechanical aptitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist experienced Sprinkler Technicians with:
  1. Installation of piping systems and valves
  2. Cutting, threading, assembling, and bonding pipes and tubes according to established specifications
  3. Modifying, cleaning, and maintaining piping systems and fittings
  4. Replacing worn components as necessary
Learn to interpret blueprints to ensure compliance with product specifications.Understand how to calculate material measurements for accuracy.Acquire knowledge of proper installation methods.Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications outlined below are essential for successful job performance, although an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may also be acceptable.

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be eligible to enroll and obtain a current Fire Sprinkler License.

Experience and Skills:

  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision under the guidance of Sprinkler Technicians.
  • Competence in basic mathematics, mechanical reasoning, problem-solving, customer service, decision-making, multitasking, project scheduling, planning, organizing, troubleshooting, and training others.

Communication Skills:

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with colleagues and clients.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read electronic blueprints is highly preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Must comply with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, climb ladders, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, and stand or walk for extended periods. The employee must have the ability to see in color and at various distances, as well as adjust focus. Occasionally, the employee may need to balance, crouch, lift up to 75 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.

Work Environment:

This role requires frequent local travel and occasional regional travel. Employees will often work in both indoor and outdoor settings, exposed to varying temperatures, loud noises, confined spaces, dust, fumes, and other environmental factors. Personal protective equipment must be worn as mandated by company safety protocols.
