Position Overview

Ascend Elements is at the forefront of transforming the production of lithium-ion battery materials by creating a clean and sustainable supply chain through the use of recycled materials. Our innovative Hydro-to-CathodeTM technology synthesizes new cathode materials from used lithium-ion cells more efficiently than conventional methods, leading to lower costs, enhanced performance, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. This approach results in cost-effective, high-performance batteries with minimized waste, a cleaner manufacturing process, and a truly sustainable circular battery economy.

We are seeking a Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Manager who will oversee all aspects of material handling and movement.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the management of inventory, warehousing, transportation, and logistics operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer satisfaction, and financial objectives.
  • Conduct metrics reporting and data analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with manufacturers, suppliers, and clients.
  • Lead and mentor logistics, warehousing, and material planning teams.
  • Establish and manage operational budgets.
  • Strategically coordinate inventory, warehousing (including offsite), transportation, and customer service.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to meet productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Track and analyze metrics such as OTIF, quality, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and overall process efficiency.
  • Address and resolve any issues or complaints, providing coaching and training to the inventory team.
  • Maintain performance metrics and analyze data to drive operational improvements.
  • Support purchasing and production planning activities.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration, transportation, or engineering.
  • Proficiency in SAP software.
  • Several years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or transportation operations.
  • A solid understanding of supply chain, inventory management, distribution, and business principles.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • The ability to coach and train team members effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Familiarity with logistics and inventory management software.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment, including dust masks, respirators, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
  • Capability to meet OSHA standards for manual lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and temperatures.
