Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and reconcile payroll information, including employee details, compensation, deductions, and taxes.
  • Generate payroll reports and assist during financial audits.
  • Accurately calculate garnishment amounts from employee wages and ensure timely payments to the relevant entities.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and implement necessary changes for compliance.
  • Efficiently produce and distribute W-2 forms to employees in accordance with IRS guidelines and deadlines.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including updates on salaries, deductions, and personal information.
  • Coordinate open enrollment periods, including organizing informational sessions and assisting employees with their plan choices.
  • Manage ongoing leave requests, including FMLA and other state programs where applicable.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of vendor invoices.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on benefit options, eligibility, coverage details, and claims processes.
  • Perform regular audits of benefit plans to ensure compliance with legal standards and internal policies.
  • Prepare analytical reports on benefit data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Possess familiarity with relevant federal and state laws, such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and OSHA 300, related to employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Compensation and Benefits role or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in utilizing ADP Workforce Now for payroll management, including data entry and report generation.
  • Thorough understanding of California wage and hour regulations, including overtime and wage deductions.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and knowledge of state-specific payroll laws is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.
