The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is excited to announce recruitment incentives for new Engineering professionals.

Recognizing the vital role Engineers play in safeguarding public health and the environment, DNREC is now offering monetary bonuses as part of our Recruitment Program Policy.

Incentives Offered:

Sign-On Bonuses based on position classification:

  • $4,000 for Engineer I
  • $5,000 for Engineer II
  • $6,000 for Engineer III
  • $7,000 for Engineer IV

These bonuses will be disbursed in two payments: the first after three months of employment and the second after eighteen months. New hires must commit to two consecutive years of service within the Engineer classification series.

About the Division of Air Quality

This division is responsible for monitoring and regulating air emissions, issuing necessary permits, and maintaining emission inventories. It plays a crucial role in developing the State's implementation plan as mandated by the Clean Air Act.

We are looking to fill two positions focused on enhancing air quality and integrating environmental considerations into transportation planning. These roles will involve:

  • Formulating environmental policies and air quality regulations.
  • Designing strategies for sustainable emission reductions.
  • One position will emphasize clean transportation and offshore wind energy, while the other will focus on the Diesel Emission Reduction Act grant program.

Key Responsibilities

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting and modifying engineering designs and specifications.
  • Reviewing permit applications and designs for compliance.
  • Applying scientific principles to develop solutions for technical challenges.
  • Conducting field studies and inspections to gather data.
  • Testing materials and systems for quality assurance.
  • Coordinating engineering projects and reporting on their status.
  • Estimating project costs and providing technical guidance to staff.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical) or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
