Role Purpose:

The Environmental Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) Manager is tasked with the creation, execution, and maintenance of EHSS initiatives aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of employees, visitors, and contractors, while ensuring environmental protection and adherence to all relevant EHSS regulations. This role involves collaboration with Business Unit management, site leaders, and HR partners to promote sustainable EHSS performance. The EHSS Manager will implement standards, provide technical guidance, and support compliance efforts, including project management and due diligence for acquisitions. Additionally, the role encompasses the development of predictive analysis programs to identify risks and implement preventive measures to mitigate potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop comprehensive EHSS risk reduction strategies.
  • Design and implement EHSS program components, fostering improved behaviors among supervisors and employees.
  • Oversee and perform EHSS audits and site inspections.
  • Monitor training compliance and generate reports for operational management.
  • Deliver EHSS training and develop educational resources.
  • Implement a behavioral-based safety program tailored to specific project needs.
  • Assist in incident investigations and coordinate with workers' compensation teams.
  • Review and update corporate EHSS standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide EHSS support for new business initiatives and project start-ups.
  • Maintain EHSS data, review OSHA logs, and prepare periodic reports.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene efforts.
  • Assist in the formulation of EHSS budgets and goal-setting for the Business Unit.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting with regular exposure to water treatment facilities, including potential exposure to chemicals and moving machinery.
  • Field visits may involve traffic exposure and varying weather conditions.
  • Noise levels may require hearing protection in heavy equipment and plant environments.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in EHSS compliance.
  • Experience in the construction and water/wastewater industries is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing, coaching, and instructional abilities.
  • Capacity to manage shifting priorities effectively.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Willingness to work in the field, providing extensive support for safety and compliance.
  • Availability for emergency response and extended work hours as needed.
  • Capability to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment.
Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Desired certifications include OSHA instructor authorization, CSP, CHMM, and relevant safety training certifications.
