The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) acknowledges the significant contributions of its Engineers in safeguarding public health and the environment. To attract top talent, we are offering monetary incentives as part of our Recruitment Program.

Incentive Overview:

New hires in the Engineer classification series may receive the following sign-on bonuses:

  • $4,000 for Engineer I
  • $5,000 for Engineer II
  • $6,000 for Engineer III
  • $7,000 for Engineer IV

These bonuses are distributed in two payments: one after three months of service and the second after eighteen months. New employees must commit to two consecutive years of employment within the Engineer series.

Position Summary

The Division of Air Quality is responsible for monitoring and regulating air emissions, issuing necessary permits, and maintaining emission inventories. This role is crucial in developing the State's implementation plan as mandated by environmental legislation.

We are filling two positions that will focus on enhancing air quality and integrating environmental considerations into transportation planning and community development. Responsibilities include formulating environmental policies, air quality regulations, and implementation strategies aimed at achieving sustainable emission reductions.

Key Responsibilities

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and modifying engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Reviewing permit applications and designs to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Utilizing scientific and mathematical principles to solve technical challenges.
  • Conducting field studies and inspections to gather data and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluating materials, systems, and facilities.
  • Coordinating engineering projects and reporting on their status.
  • Estimating project costs and providing technical guidance to staff.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.

Additional Information

This position supports flexible work arrangements in line with the State of Delaware's policies.

As part of the hiring process, candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and possess a valid driver's license.
