Role Purpose:

The Environmental Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) Manager is tasked with the creation, execution, and maintenance of EHSS programs aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of employees, visitors, and contractors, while also protecting the environment and ensuring adherence to all relevant EHSS regulations. This role requires collaboration with management and various stakeholders to foster sustainable EHSS practices. The EHSS Manager will implement standards, provide technical guidance, and assist in compliance and project management efforts. Additionally, the role involves developing predictive analysis programs to identify risks and implement preventive measures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and manage the development and implementation of EHSS risk reduction strategies.
  • Design and execute EHSS program components, focusing on enhancing supervisor and employee safety behaviors.
  • Perform EHSS audits and site inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee training compliance and generate reports for operational management.
  • Deliver EHSS training sessions and develop training materials for field staff.
  • Establish a behavioral-based safety program tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and non-compliance events, coordinating with relevant parties.
  • Assist in the review and enhancement of corporate EHSS standards and policies.
  • Provide EHSS support for new business initiatives and project start-ups.
  • Maintain EHSS data, review OSHA logs, and prepare periodic reports.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene efforts as needed.
  • Support the development of EHSS budgets and goal-setting processes.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting with regular exposure to water treatment facilities, including potential chemical exposure and moving equipment.
  • Field visits may involve working in traffic and varying weather conditions.
  • Noise levels may require hearing protection in certain environments.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in EHSS compliance.
  • Experience in the construction and water/wastewater industries is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing, coaching, and training capabilities.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Willingness to work in the field and engage with staff on safety and compliance matters.
  • Availability for on-call response to EHSS incidents.
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment.
Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Preferred certifications include OSHA instructor authorization, CSP, CHMM, and relevant safety training certifications.
