Role Purpose:

The Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHSS) Manager is tasked with the creation, execution, and maintenance of EHSS initiatives aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of employees, visitors, and contractors, while also protecting the environment and ensuring adherence to all relevant EHSS regulations. This role involves collaboration with management, site leaders, and human resources to promote sustainable EHSS practices. The EHSS Manager will implement standards, provide technical guidance, and support compliance efforts across various projects and operational activities. Additionally, the role includes developing predictive analytics to identify risks and proposing preventive measures to mitigate potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop EHSS risk mitigation strategies.
  • Design and implement EHSS program components, providing coaching to enhance supervisor and employee safety behaviors.
  • Oversee and perform EHSS audits and inspections at worksites.
  • Monitor training compliance and deliver reports to management.
  • Facilitate EHSS training sessions and develop training materials.
  • Establish a behavioral safety program tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and ensure proper reporting in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in the formulation and revision of corporate EHSS standards and policies.
  • Provide EHSS support for new business initiatives and project launches.
  • Maintain EHSS data and review incident logs, generating periodic reports.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of EHSS budgets and goal-setting processes.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting with regular exposure to operational environments, including potential exposure to chemicals and heavy machinery.
  • Field visits may involve working in outdoor conditions and navigating traffic.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in EHSS compliance.
  • Experience in the construction and utility sectors, particularly in water and wastewater management.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in writing, coaching, and instructional techniques.
  • Adept at managing shifting priorities and demands.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work.
  • Skilled in utilizing Google Workspace applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Willingness to engage in fieldwork and support staff in safety and compliance efforts.
  • Availability for emergency response and extended work hours as necessary.
  • Capability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license is required.
Additional Certifications (Preferred):
  • OSHA Training Institute authorization as an instructor on OSHA Standards.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or the ability to obtain this certification.
  • CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).
  • Certifications from recognized safety organizations relevant to hazardous materials and safety training.
