Position Overview:


Western Enterprises is seeking a skilled Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement of components across our manufacturing and assembly operations. This pivotal role ensures a consistent supply of materials at our various facilities.

This position requires daily collaboration with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Purchasing department to support operations across multiple sites.
  • Engage with top suppliers to guarantee timely delivery of essential materials.
  • Assist the Purchasing Team in resolving supplier-related challenges.
  • Maintain a continuous supply of components to facilitate production.
  • Identify cost-effective sourcing options to minimize reliance on single suppliers.
  • Strategically reduce purchased inventory relative to revenue while optimizing safety stock levels.
  • Conduct training sessions to ensure the Purchasing Team adheres to established policies and procedures.
  • Enhance purchasing processes through innovative improvements.
  • Analyze demand trends in collaboration with the sales team to manage inventory effectively.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to align new product launches with inventory management.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives related to procurement.
  • Develop relationships with new suppliers while nurturing existing partnerships.
  • Mentor and develop the Purchasing Team to foster engagement and performance.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics and maintain contracts.
  • Manage outsourcing efforts as necessary.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably within a manufacturing context.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management techniques.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and their application in procurement.
