Position Overview

The Student Recruitment Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing student outreach and enrollment initiatives at Oklahoma State University. This position is designed to develop, execute, and assess strategies aimed at attracting prospective students to the university. Key responsibilities include identifying target demographics, facilitating the application process, and representing the institution to various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Guide prospective students through the college selection, application, and enrollment journey, providing essential information about educational opportunities and available support resources.
  2. Oversee the communication strategy for prospective students, addressing inquiries through various channels including phone, email, and digital platforms.
  3. Engage in recruitment activities by visiting high schools and community events to promote the university.
  4. Deliver tailored presentations to diverse audiences regarding the institution and higher education topics.
  5. Ensure accurate data management for prospective students to enhance relationship management and increase enrollment rates.
  6. Build and maintain relationships with high school personnel and community organizations, serving as a key contact for recruitment efforts.
  7. Lead recruitment initiatives for specific populations, including at-risk groups and concurrent high school students, while also supporting broader recruitment activities.
  8. Assist in organizing events that attract prospective students to campus.
  9. Coordinate campus visits and tours for individuals and groups.
  10. Collaborate with various campus departments to implement integrated marketing and recruitment strategies.
  11. Contribute to the creation of marketing materials and manage content across digital platforms.
  12. Represent the university in community and professional organizations as needed.
  13. Support the Admissions Office by evaluating incoming documents and processing applications.
  14. Train and supervise student workers and volunteers as necessary.
  15. Participate in campus-wide retention initiatives relevant to this role.
  16. Engage in process improvement efforts and documentation within the department.
  17. Complete mandatory training and participate in professional development activities annually.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Experience in collaborative settings and independent roles with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of recruitment processes and customer relationship management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in public speaking, event planning, or marketing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the college admissions process.

Working Conditions:
  • Flexible hours may be required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Office environment with significant public interaction.
  • Travel within the state may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting and using office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
