Job Summary:

As a Patient Advocate, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care for our patients. You will serve as a patient advocate through your own role modeling of standards of performance and by communicating and meeting patients' needs for service.

You will assist registered nurses in direct care of patients, specifically with patients' activities of daily living. Your responsibilities will include ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, monitoring, direct interaction with patients, and providing/assisting in groups.

This position is primarily assigned to cover 1:1 and/or designated acuity shifts on the inpatient units. In the event that there are no 1:1 or designated acuity needs for a given shift, the employee will be reabsorbed into the float pool and assigned to cover other needs in the Hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist registered nurses in direct care of patients
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit
  • Provide/assist in groups
  • Reabsorb into the float pool and cover other needs in the Hospital as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any of the social sciences preferred and/or comparable behavioral health experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • Experience in working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients
  • Excellent written skills
  • Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active CNA License
  • 2% Pay Differential Available to Applicants who maintain an Active CNA License
