Position Overview

The Providence Community Health Centers, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the role of Senior Patient Services Representative. This position is essential in ensuring that patient services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of Patient Services Representatives to guarantee that all functions are executed with precision and efficiency. Manages work schedules, including breaks and lunch periods.
  • Welcomes, interviews, and registers all patients, confirming necessary identity, insurance, and financial details. Inputs all required information into an automated system, ensuring complete documentation of visits and payment processing. Maintains the appointment schedules of physicians in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Facilitates communication within the health center and between the center and the patient community. Acts as an interpreter or cultural liaison when necessary.
  • Engages in Coordinated Care/Patient-Centered Medical Care Management: Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team to achieve coordinated, patient-centered care. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the objectives of the patient care management plan.
  • Ensures confidentiality of client information at all levels of interaction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess current status as a Patient Services Representative.
  • Demonstrated history of being an active learner and a motivated team player with developed leadership capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of third-party payers, acquired through experience or education, is essential.
  • Proficient computer skills and excellent writing abilities are mandatory. Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
  • Strong telephone communication skills are necessary for continuous interaction throughout the day. Clear articulation and effective conversational skills are crucial for communicating with a diverse patient population.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English (and a second language if applicable) to accurately interpret and translate medical and social conditions is required.

Educational Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of a medical secretary program, third-party billing program, patient services program, or a similar training program is required.
