Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Coordinator - Developmental Disabilities. This part-time position will involve coordinating the total nursing care for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients on chronic dialysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for ESRD patients in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership for the healthcare team by working cooperatively with other renal team personnel to maintain a standard of professional nursing practice.
  • Develop individualized plans of care for dialysis sessions, establishing interventions and patient outcomes in collaboration with physicians, other health team members, patients, and their significant others.
  • Implement plans of care, including initiating and discontinuing dialysis, and monitoring patient status.
  • Document nursing actions and make adjustments based on evaluation.
  • Troubleshoot dialysis equipment as needed.
  • Provide leadership by delegating, supervising, and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by LPNs - Dialysis and Patient Care Technicians.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
  • Utilize available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or licensure in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
  • Certified Nephrology Nursing Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 months of nursing experience and an additional 3 months of specialized dialysis experience.
  • Experience must include dialysis focus of renal and hematological systems, such as managing fluid and electrolyte balances, hemodynamics, and being able to differentiate renal lab values from normal lab values.
Work Environment

This position involves working in a patient care environment and requires visual and aural ability to monitor patient status.
