Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team at Orchard View Manor. As an Activities Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational activities designed to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, and outings, to promote socialization and engagement among residents.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of resident interests and preferences to ensure that activities are tailored to meet their unique needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Memory Care Program Coordinator to develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that promotes resident engagement and well-being.
  • Document and report resident participation and progress to the nursing department and other relevant staff members.
  • Provide support and assistance to residents as needed, including helping with daily living activities and providing emotional support.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of experience in an activities department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of the Privacy Rule and ability to ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm required.
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition required.
  • Participation in continuing education and inservice training required.
