Position Overview:
The Patient Registration Coordinator for the OB/GYN department plays a crucial role in managing patient intake and financial responsibilities. This position involves a variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential for ensuring a smooth registration process for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are integral to the role:

  • Collects and verifies demographic, billing, and insurance details from patients or their representatives, entering this information into the registration and billing systems.
  • Facilitates managed care processes, including obtaining necessary pre-certifications and authorizations.
  • Prepares and presents essential documentation, such as consent forms and notices of privacy practices, to patients for their signatures.
  • Handles patient payments, including co-payments and deductibles, providing receipts and ensuring accurate documentation in the billing systems.
  • Issues patient identification armbands and balances daily financial transactions as required.
  • Initiates screenings and gathers relevant information for insurance coverage and paperwork completion.
  • Conducts medical necessity checks and completes necessary notices as required.
  • Manages patient scheduling, including appointments, rescheduling, and cancellations in line with hospital protocols.
  • Ensures completeness of orders and validates them against scheduled services.

Physical Demands:
This role requires the ability to perform various physical activities, including frequent walking, standing, and manual dexterity for operating office equipment.

Work Environment:
The position is set in a dynamic, high-volume environment, necessitating regular interaction with patients and medical staff.
