We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patient registration and financial obligations, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of patient information.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information, entering it into registration and billing systems.
- Collect deposits, co-payments, deductibles, and patient liability payments, providing receipts and documenting payments.
- Prepare and present consent forms, notice of privacy practices, and other necessary paperwork to patients and families.
- Balance daily receipts and cash drawer, following up on accounts as needed.
- Initiate screenings, obtain necessary information, and complete paperwork as required.
- Perform medical necessity checks and complete Advanced Beneficiary Notices as needed.
- Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients in accordance with hospital workflows.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- State criminal background check and federal check, if applicable, as required for state department of health regulated areas.
- Ability to accurately utilize computer software and equipment for access processing and follow downtime procedures.
- Knowledge of medical insurance requirements for payment and basic knowledge of covered services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
The Registration Specialist will work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, medical staff, and support staff daily. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
