Position Overview


The individual in this role is responsible for conducting interviews with incoming patients or their representatives, accurately documenting the necessary information for admission, and assigning patients to appropriate accommodations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the urgency of patients' medical needs, distinguishing between those requiring immediate care and those with less critical conditions.
  • Conduct thorough interviews to gather and confirm all essential admission information.
  • Input patient data into the Central Computer System of CAMC.
  • Prepare required documentation to facilitate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients.
  • Allocate patient rooms based on the severity of their condition and the availability of accommodations.
  • Organize, file, and manage patient records, ensuring the timely preparation and distribution of admission forms and related materials.
  • Perform clerical and receptionist tasks as needed, including escorting patients and assisting with mobility aids.
  • Maintain a log of patient census and compile monthly statistical reports.
  • Ensure the upkeep of equipment and manage supplies, including printer paper.
  • Notify appropriate authorities, such as the Police or Health Department, regarding patient matters when necessary.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


For positions involving direct patient interaction, the employee must acquire and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate assessment, treatment, or care tailored to the specific developmental stages of patients.

In particular, the employee should exhibit proficiency in: 1) gathering and interpreting information relevant to patient needs; 2) understanding growth and development; and 3) recognizing the range of treatments required by patients.

Competency in this role must be established through initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently execute tasks and additional responsibilities as outlined in the job description and departmental competency checklist.

4. Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department and organization.

5. Conduct work in a cost-effective manner.

6. Perform duties in accordance with departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including various shifts and on-call situations.

7. Align work with the overall mission and strategic objectives of the organization.

8. Follow all organizational and departmental policies and procedures as applicable.

9. Execute related duties as assigned.
