Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our patient access team, you will be responsible for managing patient registration and financial obligations, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information, entering it into our registration and billing systems.
  • Collect and process patient payments, including deposits, co-payments, and deductibles.
  • Prepare and present necessary paperwork, including consent forms and financial obligations, to patients and their families.
  • Balance daily receipts and cash drawer, following up on accounts as needed.
  • Initiate screenings and obtain necessary information for coverage, completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Perform medical necessity checks and complete Advanced Beneficiary Notices as required.
  • Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients in accordance with hospital workflows.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, as required for state department of health regulated areas.
  • Ability to accurately utilize applicable computer software and equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Working Environment

This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with patients, medical staff, and support staff. You will be exposed to communicable disease and must be able to work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
