Position Summary:
This role involves overseeing a diverse team of engineers with varying levels of expertise, ensuring the technical and performance execution of engineering projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of Earth Observation/Infrared (EO/IR) space payloads and laser systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead architectural evaluations to identify balanced technical, scheduling, and financial solutions for clients.
  • Provide mentorship to technical teams, including hardware/software designers and analysts throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Enhance processes and promote best practices across the program to mitigate execution risks while optimizing delivery timelines and costs.
  • Customize GA's standard processes, methodologies, tools, and metrics to meet specific program requirements.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for engineering matters with clients, systems integrators, program management, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Oversee technical resources to assess and resolve engineering challenges, including coordinating external expertise.
  • Maintain control of the technical baseline by implementing Engineering Review Board (ERB) processes and supporting Risk and Opportunity Management (ROMP) activities.
  • Manage the professional and technical performance of team members to achieve quality, business, and financial goals.
  • Support and guide engineering staff in analyzing, investigating, and resolving routine engineering challenges.
  • Conduct independent engineering tasks, document findings, communicate results, and support testing activities both on-site and off-site.
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of components and systems.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of design, analysis, fabrication, and testing techniques for space and military applications.
  • Assist in requirement analysis, mission analysis, and design trade-offs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution, along with progressive engineering experience: fifteen years with a bachelor's, thirteen years with a master's, or ten years with a PhD. Equivalent engineering experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Familiarity with the complete satellite system lifecycle, including spacecraft development, environmental testing, launch, and operations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Prior experience with optical systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective interactions across departments and with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in Systems Architecture design for spacecraft, payload, and ground systems during proposal efforts.
  • Involvement in all phases of the program lifecycle, from pre-proposal to on-orbit checkout.
  • Demonstrated strategic development and analytical skills.
  • Experience with innovative approaches to meet customer needs in a research and development context.
  • Proven track record in mentoring and developing technical talent.
  • Ability to drive resolution of complex technical challenges.
  • Experience with the development, assembly/integration/testing, readiness, and operations of space systems.
  • Experience in procurement and management of supplier-developed or Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) hardware/software, including collaboration with subcontract management and procurement teams.
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking skills with the ability to translate ideas into actionable results.
  • Ability to foster consensus among peers while building strong relationships with team members, leadership, and clients.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Salary: $128,130 - $229,358
