Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to contribute to our DUV Excimer Laser division.

This role will focus on the specification, design, development, and testing of optical modules for advanced laser systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with teams in mechanical engineering, hardware, and software design to enhance the overall laser system development.

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the engineering aspects of DUV Excimer laser subsystems from initial concept through to manufacturing transfer.
- Engage in development activities utilizing the ASML Product Generation Process, which includes defining requirements, conducting engineering reviews, performing risk assessments, and overseeing verification testing and documentation.
- Participate in project planning, establishing key deliverables, timelines, and budgets while tracking actions and aligning schedules.

- Generate innovative optical module or system concepts to fulfill product specifications.
- Conduct detailed optical design, component layout, and ray tracing for new or enhanced optical subsystems.
- Perform optical tolerance analysis at both system and subsystem levels.

- Validate concepts through prototype builds, testing, and analytical evaluations.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, create testing procedures, execute tests, and analyze data to assess performance.

- Troubleshoot and investigate failures or performance discrepancies in existing systems, collaborating with Reliability and Test Engineers to formulate and implement solutions.
- Assemble and evaluate opto-mechanical and electro-optic prototypes.

- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers and CAD Designers to ensure thorough documentation of designs, including Bills of Materials, technical drawings, and procedural guidelines.
- Work alongside manufacturing engineering to create designs that enhance manufacturability.

Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Optics Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in the same fields with at least 3 years of applicable experience.
- A minimum of eight years of experience in Optical or Opto-mechanical Design is required.

- Familiarity with Product Development processes is preferred, including managing Bills of Materials, vendor interactions, and material procurement for prototyping.
- Experience with Excimer Lasers is advantageous.

- Proven ability to design, specify components for, and construct experimental setups and prototypes.
- Competence in conducting systematic experimental measurements with a strong grasp of metrology error analysis.

- Experience in mounting optical components to reduce mechanically and thermally induced stress is essential. Familiarity with FEA and modal analysis is a plus.
- Demonstrated creativity in addressing complex optical design challenges, including contamination control and robustness considerations.

- In-depth understanding of optical engineering principles is necessary.
- Proficiency in ray tracing using Optical Design Software (such as Oslo, Zemax, Code 5, etc.) is required.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a development team.
- Self-motivated with a comfort level in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in statistical data analysis and effective problem reporting through written and graphical formats.

- Strong customer service skills with an advanced understanding of relationship building.
