Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your extensive knowledge in optical design to conduct comprehensive analyses on performance metrics, including size, weight, and power for satellite optical systems.
  • Employ advanced modeling tools to gain insights into the co-design of various optical technologies within a unified payload.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow optical engineers to assess and refine optical technologies, ensuring a smooth transition to production.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for innovative imaging technologies, exploring emerging concepts for future space applications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or a Doctorate with 8 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Expertise in evaluating optical component performance, including PSFs and MTFs.
  • Proficient in using finite element-based design tools such as COMSOL, CST, or Lumerical.
  • Experience with optical design software like Zemax or CODE V.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in guiding teams towards achieving objectives.
  • Proficient in technical documentation and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to independent work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS or TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience in developing hybrid optical systems utilizing novel components.
  • Familiarity with the fabrication and characterization of optics, including diffractive and meta-optics.
  • Background in proposal and business development.
