Position Type: Full Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, model, analyze, and enhance intricate electro-optical systems, particularly spectral imaging devices.
  • Convert system/application needs into specific imager requirements.
  • Develop, calibrate, and evaluate optical and electro-optical systems.
  • Collaborate with and guide a team of optical, mechanical, electronic, and software engineers.
  • Oversee integration and testing of sensor systems and their components.
  • Conduct systems architecture assessments and sensor trade studies.
  • Assist in new business initiatives through concept development and proposal preparation.
  • Act as a pivotal contributor to projects as a technical authority and/or Lead Electro-Optical Systems Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, optics, or applied physics with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience; or a PhD in a similar discipline with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense sectors is preferred.
  • Familiarity with UV to LWIR optical systems, camera technologies, and design principles.
  • Proficient in modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab, FRED, or similar software.
  • Knowledgeable in spectral, polarimetric, spatial, and temporal image processing techniques.
  • Understanding of atmospheric modeling and effects using software like Modtran.
  • Practical lab experience in calibration, radiometric, and image quality assessments.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills for effective communication with senior management, program managers, clients, and fellow engineers.
  • Experience with Zemax/CodeV, ModTran, and/or NVtherm/SSCam/NV-IPM is advantageous.
  • Programming skills in C++ or C# are a plus.
