The YMCA is in search of a distinguished Chief Executive Officer to guide our organization towards future achievements.

Position Overview:

The CEO holds the pivotal role of steering the strategic vision, ensuring financial health, fostering community engagement, nurturing staff development, and overseeing program and facility operations. The CEO is also tasked with ensuring adherence to YMCA best practices as outlined by the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reports directly to the Board of Directors.

2. Manages direct reports including the Director of Operations, Director of Finance & HR, Director of Childcare, and Director of Building & Property, while also overseeing indirect reports such as the Director of Youth & Adult Sports, Director of Aquatics, and Director of Fitness Programs.

3. Serves as the primary liaison to the community, local businesses, and state and federal YMCA affiliations.

Organizational Relationships:

1. Acts as the direct liaison to the local board of directors and staff.

2. Engages with the community, businesses, and organizations.

3. Represents the organization to other YMCA Associations at the state and federal levels.

Core Activities:

1. Oversee daily operations.

2. Provide leadership and direction in the following areas:

a) Strategic Leadership

• Collaborates with the board to establish organizational policies, goals, and strategic direction. Implements policies and reports on matters affecting the association's welfare.

• Directs the strategic plan and ensures the achievement of organizational objectives.

• Utilizes new technology, budget management, and information systems to enhance operations.

• Understands policy formulation and board development processes.

• Navigates change effectively to foster growth and success.

• Maintains knowledge of non-profit administration principles committed to community welfare.

b) Financial Oversight

• Ensures sound fiscal management and reporting. Oversees financial operations.

• Leads the annual budgeting process and monitors financial status.

• Provides leadership for capital campaigns and annual fundraising efforts.

• Manages cash flow and financial forecasting.

• Communicates critical financial matters to the Board of Directors.

• Coordinates the annual audit process.

• Collaborates with investment brokers to ensure endowments meet expectations.

c) Community Engagement

• Acts as the bridge between the business community and the YMCA, fostering relationships and support.

• Interprets the mission and goals of the Association to build meaningful community connections.

d) Human Resources & Development

• Cultivates a successful culture by leading and organizing a diverse team of staff and volunteers.

• Delegates tasks effectively while implementing administrative procedures for smooth operations.

• Enhances human resources practices, including professional development and recruitment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, human services, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• YMCA Organizational Leader certification required within three years of hire.
• Ten or more years of extensive management experience, preferably in the YMCA or non-profit sector.
• Proven ability to lead a voluntary, non-profit organization in a complex environment.
• Demonstrated experience in community relations, financial development, and board engagement.
• Ability to attract and motivate quality staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of community resources and the ability to leverage them for strategic objectives.
• Must be recognized as a peer among community leaders.
• Commitment to the YMCA's mission and values is essential.
• Effective communication skills to engage diverse community groups.
• Additional language proficiency may be beneficial.
• Understanding of YMCA's national and international relationships is preferred.
