Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate a comprehensive strategic vision and operational plan for the Engineering department.
  • Direct and implement optimal engineering practices to effectively manage personnel, resources, processes, and infrastructure.
  • Lead the annual capital budgeting process, ensuring timely completion of all engineering projects.
  • Evaluate and select major engineering contracts that align with strategic objectives and maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including Regional Directors, General Managers, and Finance teams, to optimize service contracts and procurement processes.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with service vendors and contractors.
  • Negotiate and establish national service agreements.
  • Ensure the establishment of preventative maintenance programs across all properties.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.
  • Set, communicate, and execute annual goals and performance metrics for the Engineering team.
  • Lead the Corporate Engineering team, fostering collaboration among corporate and regional members.
  • Address emergency situations affecting facilities and infrastructure promptly.
  • Promote employee engagement at both corporate and hotel levels.
  • Oversee engineering reporting and metrics, ensuring accountability for performance outcomes.
  • Manage the annual budget for the Corporate Engineering department.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures for engineering functions.
  • Conduct inspections as part of the hotel audit process and ensure regular visits by the Regional Engineering team.
  • Recommend effective staffing models to ensure adequate hotel staffing.
  • Initiate energy conservation programs and initiatives.
  • Review contracts to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Engage with all organizational levels, from senior leadership to front-line staff.
  • Support corporate departments as needed, including Finance, Risk Management, and Training.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management and Legal on claims and property damage issues.
  • Partner with asset managers to align engineering strategies with business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies that support the company's overall goals.
  • Work with training departments to identify needs for enhancing guest experience.
  • Foster the sharing of best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of engineering management experience in the hospitality sector, with a minimum of five years at the Director level.
  • Experience managing multiple hotel engineering operations, including a background as a Corporate or Regional Engineer.
  • Familiarity with various hotel types and sizes.
  • In-depth knowledge of hotel systems and engineering management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of contractual obligations.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and metrics.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Benefits
