Role Overview:

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Cement Competence Center. This role will involve overseeing a diverse team of technical experts and contract engineers dedicated to creating innovative solutions for a new carbon capture facility. You will leverage your extensive engineering expertise to ensure optimal design, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to regulatory standards. As the project transitions into the construction phase, you will also be expected to provide support to contractors and assist in commissioning efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of technical pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, including cost assessments for implementing carbon capture technologies at our prioritized manufacturing sites. Collaborate with internal experts and external partners as necessary. Review and contribute to project criteria, guidelines, and standards based on the latest industry codes and methodologies. Manage procurement processes by preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and making recommendations for contract awards. Review technical documentation, including recommendations, work packages, and commissioning documents. Maintain regular communication with stakeholders through presentations and team meetings. Organize technical and operational reviews of documents and development plans, including model assessments and operational reviews. Contribute to carbon capture initiatives at other company facilities. Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases. Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.

Candidate Profile:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in engineering, with significant leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams throughout all project phases. At least five (5) years of experience in fields such as carbon capture, hydrogen, industrial gases, or closely related industries. Strong understanding of systems design, fabrication processes, and engineering materials. Proven engineering skills with the ability to engage with various engineering disciplines effectively. Knowledge of piping and process systems design, as well as energy and heat transfer equipment. Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards (CSA, ASME, NFPA, and ASTM). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team motivation and development. Effective time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Eligibility for professional engineering registration.
