Position Overview

The Senior Architectural Project Leader is a pivotal role within Acela Engineering Company, tasked with overseeing all aspects of the architectural workflow on assigned projects. This position demands a registered architect who excels in guiding and mentoring junior team members, fostering their growth towards potential leadership roles such as Senior Project Architect, Project Manager, or Principal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently assess, select, and implement architectural methodologies and modifications.
  • Formulate strategies to meet defined objectives while exploring various project variables.
  • Execute architectural tasks based on general directives and project outlines provided by the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to create initial designs and suggest procedural improvements.
  • May oversee Architectural Designers and Project Coordinators, with support from Interior Designers or Marketing personnel.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of construction practices, building codes, and the ability to generate complete construction documentation, including specifications.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, including engineers and cost estimators.
  • Manage construction administration alongside construction managers, reviewing shop drawings as necessary.
  • Facilitate and coordinate project meetings, ensuring all tasks are assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Assist Project Managers in preparing cost estimates and quality assessments.
  • Participate in networking events and support Team Leaders in business development efforts.

  • Proficient in Revit/BIM and AutoCAD; familiarity with MS Office Suite is essential.
  • Capable of developing both preliminary and advanced designs while adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to apply project management principles to oversee work effectively.
  • Willingness to work beyond standard hours when required to meet project deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced design portfolio showcasing relevant experience.
  • A minimum of five years in architectural practice, with at least one year managing multiple projects.
  • Professional architect registration in the USA is required.
  • NCARB certification is preferred.
  • LEED accreditation is advantageous (ability to obtain certification within 24 months of hire is recommended).

Physical Requirements

This role may require the employee to engage in various physical activities, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Vision capabilities should include close, distance, and color vision, along with depth perception.
