Position Overview: The Nuclear Fuel Engineer is tasked with executing a range of engineering functions related to nuclear fuel, focusing on reload core design, licensing evaluations, and in-core fuel management to support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct reload core and bundle design, alongside reload licensing and in-core fuel management analyses to enhance fuel reliability and performance.

2. Manage and coordinate engineering tasks associated with cycle reload projects, including core design, licensing evaluations, and preparation of necessary documentation.

3. Propose modifications to procedures, analysis techniques, and equipment as necessary, including on-site support for fuel inspections and oversight of manufacturing processes.

4. Utilize sound engineering principles to deliver technically accurate and efficient recommendations.

5. Review and validate design work from contractors and other engineers, ensuring effective collaboration with internal and external teams.

6. Function effectively within a team, taking on roles as a leader, mentor, or collaborative member.

7. Adhere to safety and industrial hygiene standards during activities such as core verification and fuel inspections.

8. Communicate complex technical subjects clearly and effectively to all management levels, collaborating to identify issues and propose corrective actions.

9. Engage in nuclear emergency response initiatives and participate in refueling outages and vendor oversight as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Entry-level candidates should have less than two years of relevant engineering experience.

Support Engineer Level:

  • Minimum of two years of related engineering experience.

Senior Engineer Level:

  • At least five years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and industry practices.

Principal Engineer Level:

  • A minimum of ten years of relevant engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Expertise in critical activities related to energy generation and distribution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in an entry-level engineering role.
  • Experience with BWR core design is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in PC skills, including Linux and programming.
  • Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Engineer in Training Certificate or Professional Engineer registration in Pennsylvania is a plus.
