This position is pivotal in overseeing assigned projects throughout their entire lifecycle. Responsibilities include crafting the project scope and technical components of proposals, engaging in contract discussions, and ensuring the successful execution of project plans to meet HNTB's performance standards: delivering quality outcomes, on schedule, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction. The role requires proactive management of budgets, timelines, technical specifications, contractual commitments, and client interactions to align with project goals. You will provide high-level technical oversight while managing and reviewing design specifications, calculations, reports, and plans. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-disciplinary teams, is essential to address and resolve design-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project scope and fee estimates, assisting in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's advanced contracting methodology.
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients, guiding the project team to ensure successful delivery of scope, timelines, and budgets, while assisting in project scoping and contract negotiations.
  • Conduct technical tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implement the firm's project delivery strategy using HNTB's sophisticated delivery framework for each project. Lead the formulation and execution of the project management plan while mentoring the team towards achieving overall project objectives.
  • Coordinate with management on project staffing, focusing on recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning for project personnel.
  • Collaborate with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to support business development efforts, fostering client relationships and strategic project pursuits. Prepare proposal and presentation materials in conjunction with the project team and marketing resources. Lead proposal development and presentations for strategic projects.
  • May oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of staff, including performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in task management or as a Deputy Project Manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant transportation agencies.
