Position Summary:

This role oversees the administrative and operational security functions during a designated shift at a residential re-entry center. You will effectively lead staff to ensure adequate security coverage.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand and comply with specific post orders for the assigned area.
  • Conduct formal counts of residents.
  • Supervise Monitor staff and residents, ensuring compliance with facility and corporate policies.
  • Train new employees and address any complaints or issues.
  • Develop work schedules, monitor assignments, and approve leave requests.
  • Report any suspected unauthorized activities to the Security Manager or Facility Director.
  • Maintain daily logs and conduct facility checks.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and fill in during shortages.
  • Participate in evaluating security staff performance.
  • Coordinate with facility training requirements to ensure staff receive necessary training.
  • Monitor safety practices and prepare reports as required.
  • Conduct meetings and enhance communication within the facility.
  • Effectively communicate with staff, residents, and visitors, particularly in sensitive situations.
  • Prepare administrative reports using proper grammar and documentation.
  • Inspect housing and common areas to maintain security and safety standards.
  • Conduct visual and audio surveillance, ensuring reliable identification of residents.
  • Engage in functions in confined areas, including working rotating shifts and conducting physical checks.
  • Take appropriate action to prevent or manage disruptive situations.
  • Remain vigilant and respond calmly in emergencies.
  • Complete in-service training for ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Monitor I or two years in a related field; leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with community correctional operations and relevant laws.
  • Ability to write clear reports in English.
  • Strong planning, motivation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift and use relevant software.
