Position Details

This role is being filled under Direct-Hire Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Monitoring: Oversee and respond to security alerts; analyze access trends, manage user permissions, and control access to facilities during both routine and emergency situations; assess the need for law enforcement intervention; maintain comprehensive logs of radio and alarm activities, including timestamps and communication outcomes; prepare detailed reports; manage the issuance and retrieval of government keys and identification badges; ensure accountability for Police Officer badges and associated records.
  • Communication Management: Handle routine and emergency communications from various sources requiring police, fire, medical, or other emergency assistance; maintain ongoing communication with law enforcement units; oversee responses to security and life safety communications, including radio dispatches and emergency calls; collaborate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies during emergencies; operate various communication devices and computer systems to facilitate both routine and emergency operations.
  • Operational Support: Conduct system checks on dispatch center equipment; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise; perform equipment inventories and maintain accurate records; input, update, and retrieve data from multiple computer systems/databases; utilize state and National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) systems to access sensitive law enforcement data; compile and prepare reports related to police control center operations; manage vehicle registration tasks and issue permits.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time, rotating shifts, including nights and weekends. Schedule details will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

GS-05 Grade Level:

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current Federal employees must have held a GS grade within the past 52 weeks to meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-05 position, applicants must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04 level. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees seeking reinstatement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service, demonstrating knowledge of security or law enforcement objectives; executing support tasks related to law enforcement and security administration; monitoring and responding to alarm systems and security cameras; dispatching officers; overseeing video surveillance; and maintaining reports and logs. Applicants must clearly describe their relevant duties and responsibilities. ~OR~

EDUCATION: Completion of four years of education beyond high school in an accredited institution. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours. Transcripts must be submitted with the application. ~OR~

COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Only education beyond the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting specialized experience requirements.
