Overview

This role is situated within the Accounting division of DelDOT's Lottery operations. The incumbent will be responsible for disbursing payments to lottery winners and executing a variety of foundational accounting tasks. Responsibilities will also encompass the documentation, assessment, and management of financial transactions and records. Moreover, this position requires the employee to autonomously carry out a comprehensive range of vital accounting and administrative duties under general oversight.

Key Responsibilities

The following are essential duties that are fundamental to all roles within this classification. This list is not exhaustive and does not limit the responsibilities of any specific position:

  • Examine forms and source documents, including invoices, receipts, and service contracts, to finalize purchase orders; ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant procedures and standards.
  • Confirm or ascertain the correct classification and coding of financial transactions.
  • Utilize both commercial and proprietary automated systems and software to input, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report data.
  • Apply standard formulas for calculations; monitor account balances and identify discrepancies for reporting.
  • Establish and maintain financial records, documents, and files.
  • Generate reports and summaries regarding account statuses or other financial information.
  • Contribute to the recommendation of improvements to internal processes, forms, or procedural enhancements.
  • Collect and compile data for review by senior staff.
  • Perform general office duties as assigned, including preparing correspondence and distributing documents.
  • May assist with payroll entries and processing within automated systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders through various communication methods.
  • Effectively communicate and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Accounting Associate II
Candidates must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:

  • At least six months of experience in processing accounting, auditing, or payroll transactions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • A minimum of six months of experience in verifying compliance of financial transactions with necessary documentation and regulations.
  • Six months of experience in generating financial reports that consolidate and present data from various sources in an organized manner.
  • Alternatively, possession of an Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or a related discipline.

Employment Conditions

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DelDOT participates in the Federal E-Verify system, which verifies the employment eligibility of new hires.
