Cleveland Clinic is seeking to enhance its team with a new Caregiver. As part of our family, you will work on a diverse range of medical devices, including life support systems such as anesthesia machines, ventilators, and dialysis equipment. Your role will involve participating in equipment planning, research, support, and departmental initiatives. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various medical apparatus.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver routine and as-needed clinical engineering services (repair, maintenance, relocation, installation, etc.) for assigned equipment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of equipment, inventory, service, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with IT personnel to integrate medical equipment systems with information technology applications.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Education Requirements:

An Associate's degree in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. A High School diploma/GED along with four years of experience as a Clinical Engineering Tech I at Cleveland Clinic or six years of relevant experience in maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment or in a mechanical or electrical technician role may substitute for work experience. A Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering or IT technical field may also substitute for the required experience.


Certifications:

Preferred certifications include Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET).


Complexity of Work:

This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently. The role may involve working in a high-pressure environment, necessitating appropriate responses to challenges.


Work Experience:

A minimum of two years of experience as a Clinical Engineering Tech I at Cleveland Clinic or four years of relevant experience in maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment or in a mechanical or electrical technician field is required. Equivalent specialized or military training may be considered in lieu of the degree.


Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include the ability to lift 75 pounds, climb 8-foot ladders, and work on overhead equipment. The role may require working in prone positions and in confined, low-light areas. Manual dexterity is necessary for using tools and handling small mechanical components. Visual acuity is essential for distinguishing colors used in wire coding and reading detailed blueprints and schematics.
