Core Responsibilities

The essential functions outlined below are fundamental to all positions within this classification. This list is not exhaustive and employees may perform additional duties of a similar nature: Evaluates and verifies financial transactions and records for accuracy while ensuring compliance with agency budgets, relevant agreements, grants, or contracts, as well as state and federal regulations. Consolidates and reconciles data to the general ledger from various records; prepares trial balances and implements necessary corrections to maintain balanced funds and an audit trail. Reviews financial transactions and classifications to ensure precision and recommends modifications as needed. Upholds internal controls and applies accounting standards and practices. Offers expert advice and technical support regarding assigned fiscal responsibilities. Compiles and analyzes financial statements and reports to assess financial health for budgeting and personnel planning. Conducts research and provides necessary documentation to auditors and for other financial inquiries. Utilizes automated information systems and software to evaluate and report on financial data. Ensures exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders through various communication methods. Engages effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. May oversee purchasing, disbursement, and inventory management of supplies and equipment.

Position Requirements

Requirements for Financial Analyst I Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas: One year of experience in processing accounting, auditing, or payroll transactions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. OR

Six months of experience in auditing, preparing, or reconciling financial accounts while ensuring compliance with relevant standards. OR

An Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or a related discipline. Requirements for Financial Analyst II Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas: One year of experience in compiling and analyzing financial data to ensure effective accounting of funds and financial planning. One year of experience ensuring compliance of financial transactions with budgets and applicable regulations. Six months of experience in researching and analyzing financial records to resolve discrepancies and maintain an audit trail. Coursework or experience in supervising staff, including leading the work of others.

Hiring Conditions

Pre-employment drug testing is required upon a conditional offer. A satisfactory criminal background check is also necessary for hiring. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The organization participates in E-Verify to confirm work authorization.
