Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine is recruiting a detail-oriented Grants & Projects Analyst Trainee for the Office of Medical Research. The Grants & Projects Analyst Trainee will oversee the grant proposal process. The role will involve analyzing and summarizing grant documents, ensuring proposals meet sponsor guidelines, and advising on budget preparation keeping in line with university policies.

This position will ensure compliance with all regulations, organize supporting documents, and review submissions for accuracy, coordinate with various stakeholders, manage electronic submissions, and keep track of deadlines to ensure timely applications. The Grants & Projects Analyst Trainee will also support complex grant development and funding opportunity research, assist in budget setup for new awards and maintain clear communication with all parties involved in grant implementation.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, accounting, finance or related field; OR
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional grants experience which includes duties such as assisting with writing grant applications; determining grant/subgrant program eligibility; providing technical assistance to grant/subgrant clients; and/or assisting with fiscal aspects of grants/subgrants; OR
  • Two years of paraprofessional experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III or Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which included assisting in performing grant duties as described above; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 31 (Entry, Step 01 $26.07/hr - Step 05 $30.85/hr)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
