Bilingual Licensed Vocational Nurse/Registered Nurse

Position: Bilingual LVN/RN
Location: El Paso, TX
Job Overview:
This role entails conducting medical evaluations for donors, assessing their eligibility, and managing any reactions that may occur. The position operates in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure donor satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to their needs.
- Assess donor eligibility by evaluating healthy individuals for plasmapheresis and immunization procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Provide detailed explanations of informed consent for plasmapheresis and immunization, including procedures, risks, and potential adverse reactions.
- Address donor inquiries and guarantee that they have the opportunity to decline participation.
- Conduct physical assessments for donors and promptly review data to confirm eligibility.
- Assist with various tasks in the Donor Room, including performing plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures, ensuring donor safety, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Supervise or directly attend to donors experiencing acute reactions to procedures.
- Administer immunizations as per guidelines and monitor donor responses.
- Provide confidential counseling to donors who do not meet eligibility criteria.
- Maintain the emergency medical kit and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Inform donors of any positive viral marker test results.
- Review test outcomes and consult with medical personnel regarding any unusual or concerning results.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional patient and donor assessment capabilities.
- Ability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Current licensure in the relevant state.
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing priorities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Education and Experience:
- Licensure in a relevant program such as EMT, Paramedic, LPN/LVN, or RN, as mandated by state law. A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred.
- Active licensure in the state of operation and maintenance of valid credentials.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role within a regulated environment is advantageous.
- Current CPR certification is required.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods and work flexible hours.
- Capability to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Proficiency in using computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel as necessary.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is part of the role.
- Physical capability to perform CPR and respond to donor reactions promptly.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted in a climate-controlled plasma center.
- Involves activities in processing areas, including storage facilities.
