Job Overview:

This role entails conducting medical evaluations for donors, assessing their eligibility, and managing any reactions that may occur. The position operates in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure donor satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to their needs.
  • Evaluate donor eligibility by assessing healthy individuals for plasmapheresis and immunization in line with regulatory standards.
  • Provide clear explanations of informed consent for plasmapheresis and immunization, detailing procedures, risks, and potential adverse effects.
  • Address donor inquiries and ensure they understand their right to decline participation.
  • Conduct physical assessments for donors and promptly review data to confirm eligibility.
  • Assist in the Donor Room with plasmapheresis and blood collection, ensuring donor safety and accurate documentation.
  • Supervise or directly assist donors experiencing adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Administer immunizations according to established protocols and monitor donor responses.
  • Offer confidential counseling to donors who do not meet eligibility criteria.
  • Maintain the emergency medical kit and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Inform donors of any positive test results for viral markers.
  • Consult with the Center physician regarding unusual test results and medical incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional patient and donor assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to manage emergencies with a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Current licensure in the state of operation.
  • Experience demonstrating adaptability, attention to detail, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Educational Background:

  • Licensure in a relevant program such as EMT, Paramedic, LPN/LVN, or RN, as per state regulations. A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • Active state licensure and compliance with medical credential evaluations.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a regulated environment, particularly in plasma or blood collection settings is advantageous.

Physical and Cognitive Demands:

  • Ability to work for extended periods in various positions and maintain flexible schedules.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical ability to perform CPR and respond to donor emergencies.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a controlled plasma collection center.
