Job Overview:

This role entails conducting medical assessments for donors, evaluating their eligibility, and managing any donor reactions. The position operates in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure donor satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to their needs.
  • Assess donor eligibility by reviewing health histories and performing evaluations for plasmapheresis and immunization procedures, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Provide clear explanations of informed consent for plasmapheresis and immunization, detailing procedures, risks, and potential side effects.
  • Address donor inquiries and ensure they have the opportunity to decline participation.
  • Conduct physical examinations and promptly review data to confirm donor eligibility.
  • Assist in the Donor Room with procedures such as plasmapheresis and whole blood collection, ensuring donor safety and accurate documentation.
  • Supervise or provide immediate care for donors experiencing adverse reactions.
  • Administer immunizations in accordance with protocols and monitor donor responses.
  • Offer confidential counseling to donors who do not meet eligibility criteria.
  • Maintain emergency medical supplies and equipment to ensure readiness.
  • Inform donors of any positive test results for viral markers.
  • Consult with medical professionals regarding unusual test results and medical incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional patient and donor assessment abilities.
  • Capability to manage emergencies calmly and effectively.
  • Current licensure in the state of operation.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, attention to detail, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and supervisory skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Licensure in a relevant program such as EMT, Paramedic, LPN/LVN, or RN, as per state regulations. A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • Active state licensure and compliance with medical credential evaluations.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a regulated healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • Current CPR certification is required.

Physical and Cognitive Demands:

  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods and work flexible hours.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel as necessary.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and the physical ability to perform CPR.
  • Regularly required to stand and utilize hands for tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a controlled plasma collection center.
  • Involves exposure to processing areas, including storage facilities.
