Job Summary:

The Director of Government Relations will execute a comprehensive government relations strategy through engagement with local, regional, and state elected officials and key leaders in Arizona and Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Government Relations Strategy: Analyze potential legislative and regulatory threats for impact on the business and degree of risk/opportunity, and develop strategic responses.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work directly with market and hospital leadership to ensure all are informed of legislative and policy movement of consequence. Utilize internal subject matter expertise to gather all relevant information on operational impact of legislative and regulatory proposals.
  • Presentation and Communication: Deliver presentations on policy and legislative issues, both internally and externally.
  • Relationship Development: Develop and manage relationships with key elected officials, community leaders, and organizations on the local, state, and federal levels to achieve system public policy and business development goals.
  • Grassroots Advocacy: Support political activities and grassroots advocacy, represent the department at assigned meetings, and manage other GR programs as assigned.
  • Contract Management: Direct and annual contract review and execution, working with the Vice President, Government Relations.
  • Lobbying: Directly lobby Arizona and Texas state legislators, governors and their administrations, and local elected officials on matters of importance.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience, including legislative, agency, trade association, corporate, and/or other government relations experience in Arizona or Texas for the Arizona-based position.
  • Background: Healthcare issue background experience, preferred.
  • Skills: Self-starter with ability to work independently. Strong written and oral communication skills.
