About the Role

The City of Dallas is seeking a highly skilled Government Services Attorney to join our team in the Government Services Section. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and counsel to the city council, city manager, and city departments on various legal issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate complex contracts for engineering services, consultant services, software, staffing, and other government services.
  • Review and draft contracts to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide advice on procurement, emergency management, health care privacy, utility regulations, environmental issues, sanitation, aviation, technology, and cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with city departments to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in municipal law and regulations.
Requirements
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in municipal law and procurement is a plus.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The city's comprehensive benefits package comes with the position. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
