Key ResponsibilitiesThis role will provide expertise and leadership in the formulation and execution of OSHA-required written programs and support in training development, with the aim of achieving zero accidents.
The incumbent will lead a team in the creation, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of site-specific safety programs and procedures, ensuring alignment with corporate policies. Close collaboration with corporate safety and audit functions under the General Counsel is essential. This position will work with plant and site managers to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company EHS regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards.
Specific Duties Include:- Contributing to the development and implementation of site safety programs that meet or exceed corporate safety policies.
- Monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including OSHA safety standards.
- Maintaining, tracking, and analyzing incident data to identify opportunities for hazard reduction through data-driven decisions.
- Preparing injury reports and leading root cause analysis workgroups to eliminate or reduce workplace injuries.
- Implementing a risk assessment process to evaluate and measure risks associated with tasks.
- Supporting site staff in monthly safety meetings and training initiatives.
- Conducting site visits and providing on-the-ground support during major outages.
- Reviewing equipment, operations, and maintenance processes for potential safety hazards.
- 8+ years of experience managing health and safety systems in heavy industry, preferably in power generation.
- B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health preferred, but relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
- Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHP, or CRSP are preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal skills with the ability to promote business initiatives.
- Ability to adapt to organizational changes and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
Must be able to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation, including the ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, and have close and distance vision capability. Travel is required approximately 30% to 40% of the time.
