Job Summary

The Accountant III - Financial Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting for Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the month-end close process to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany activity to ensure proper postings and balances.
  • Prepare and submit third-party billings in a timely manner.
  • Interact with management personnel to gather information, resolve issues, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and financial processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including budget versus actual analysis.
  • Respond to inquiries from management and staff regarding financial transactions and reporting.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five to seven years of experience in accounting, with progressive responsibilities and including three to five years of experience in a specialty area.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of automated accounting systems and general computer applications.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hospital finance experience.
