AIR is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Vice President of Financial Programs to become an integral part of our leadership team. This pivotal role is essential in guiding and enhancing all client-oriented financial operations, leading AIR's financial strategy, and ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with AIR's overarching objectives.


This position presents a unique opportunity for an accomplished financial executive to significantly influence the financial stability and strategic trajectory of AIR, thereby contributing to our mission of advancing evidence-based solutions to improve lives.


Key Responsibilities


As a vital member of the executive team, the incumbent will oversee financial management for a diverse array of approximately 700+ contracts and grants, encompassing Federal, State/Local, Foundation, Commercial, and International sources.


Financial Leadership:


Lead all financial support aspects for AIR's client-funded and internal projects, including audits, financial reviews, and negotiations regarding institutional financial policies.


Ensure adherence to relevant funding, governmental, and institutional financial regulations and policies.


Supervise a team of around 40 finance professionals, managing functions such as financial management, accounting, project billing, cash flow, financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control for both international and domestic projects.


Project Oversight:


Guarantee the effective execution of financial processes throughout the project lifecycle, including compliance setup in AIR's financial systems and quality control of project data and reporting.


Enhance the institution's budgeting and forecasting systems, integrating best practices and responding to evolving informational needs.


Business Development Collaboration:


Formulate and disseminate financial pricing policies and guidelines to support proposal development.


Work closely with business development teams to provide financial insights and strategies for proposal efforts.


Strategic Financial Planning:


Offer business and risk management guidance to senior leadership, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.


Play a crucial role in financial planning and analysis across all components of the organizational financial framework.


Team Development:


Lead, mentor, and cultivate the program finance team, enhancing their skills and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.


Regulatory Compliance:


Ensure compliance with all pertinent financial regulations and program accounting principles, staying informed about regulatory changes impacting financial operations.


Financial Risk Management:


Develop and implement strategies to identify and mitigate financial risks associated with AIR's projects and operations.


Continuous Improvement:


Regularly benchmark AIR's financial processes against industry best practices and implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field, along with relevant professional certification (CPA, CMA) or a master's degree (MBA).


Extensive experience in senior financial leadership roles, demonstrating success in financial management and strategic decision-making within a global organization.


Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, with experience in federal, state/local, foundation, commercial, and international funding mechanisms and regulations.


Proven track record in managing diverse portfolios of contracts and grants, with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying financial information effectively to various stakeholders.


Commitment to continuous improvement and high ethical standards, aligned with AIR's values and governance policies.
