Job Overview

Building Industry Partners, a leader in the manufacturing of wood truss systems, is in search of a skilled Field Sales Consultant. Our company has been a trusted name in the industry for over three decades, specializing in providing robust solutions for residential, commercial, and agricultural construction needs.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sales and a passion for the construction sector. The Field Sales Consultant will focus on expanding our client base by targeting custom home builders and framing contractors.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with custom home builders and framers to drive sales growth.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with both existing and potential clients to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Market Analysis: Perform comprehensive market analysis to uncover trends, customer demands, and competitive insights that will shape sales strategies.
  • Product Expertise: Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of our truss products, manufacturing techniques, and industry regulations to effectively convey their advantages to clients.
  • Sales Presentations: Develop and present persuasive sales proposals tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Contract Negotiation: Engage in negotiations regarding contracts, pricing, and terms to finalize sales and meet revenue objectives.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with production, engineering, and customer service teams to ensure client specifications are fulfilled and projects are delivered punctually.
  • Sales Reporting: Keep precise records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status. Provide regular updates on sales performance and market insights.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel within the designated territory to engage with clients, participate in industry events, and represent the company.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of experience in outside sales, ideally within the building materials sector. Familiarity with trusses or similar products is advantageous.
  • Exceptional sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, particularly the requirements and challenges faced by custom home builders and framers.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and blueprints is a plus.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and capable of working autonomously. Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as necessary.
