Position Overview:
Under the direction of the General Superintendent, the Superintendent will manage the execution of milling and paving projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing and supervising interstate projects typically conducted during nighttime hours. The Superintendent will be responsible for supervising field personnel, ordering materials, managing subcontractors, and coordinating with clients and sales teams to ensure projects align with our commitment to production, quality, and safety standards. This role is situated within the Heavy Highway Asphalt Paving sector, requiring prior experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engagement and Respect: Support Senior Management initiatives by gathering comprehensive project information from Management and Sales teams. Attend pre-construction meetings as necessary.
- Thorough Preparation: Conduct a detailed assessment of the work site prior to mobilization to ensure readiness.
- Staffing Coordination: Determine project-specific staffing and equipment needs, coordinating with Dispatch accordingly.
- Material Management: Order construction materials (such as liquid calcium chloride, Portland cement, liquid asphalt, etc.) and monitor quantities to ensure adherence to budgeted amounts.
- Task Assignment: Clearly delegate daily tasks to field personnel and supervise their progress.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Control staff as necessary to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Safety Promotion: Conduct site safety meetings with field personnel, fostering a culture of safety and adhering to all applicable OSHA and company safety standards.
- Client Engagement: Interact with client representatives and inspectors to ensure project satisfaction. Our clientele includes municipal public works departments, state DOTs, general contractors, housing developers, and homeowners' associations.
- Time Management: Review employee time sheets for accuracy.
- Budget Compliance: Ensure all projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction experience.
- Extensive knowledge of construction operations and specifications.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of job costing.
- Ability to make prompt and informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic proficiency in PC applications, including email and spreadsheets.

Travel Requirements:
